Marine Rehabilitation Awareness Campaign
It is no doubt that whatever will be the government program about the rehabilitation of the coastal environment but with out the participation of the people in the shoreline will not succeed.
The community living near the shoreline is the biggest factor to be considered in promoting such marine rehabilitation programs. Constant seminars englightning the degrading marine resources focusing merely on the things the community inlficted to the coastal area will give clearer understanding that marine reserves are no longer capable of sustaining their needs.
Since this type of prodrams will be understood that fishermen need to refrain from utilizing the coastal area for their daily needs, the people will surely respond to some proposals without a second thought on what benifits they would get.
The government should inplement a long term alternative sustaible livelihood programs so that the community in the shoreline will try to perform the suggested rehabilitation activities.
The root cause lies in the community and no one will be interested to divert thier attention if there are no enough replacement to sustai also the basic needs of the people. It is obvious that most people living near the shoreline are under the poverty level and for this, they are susceptible to exploit further up to the last drop the resources available.
Education is very important and the government has all the resources to educate these communities. To educate them that the government and its coastal rehabilitation programs an the community should work together to achieve the goal in preserving the coastal environment.
